Ahh, Spring
After our 6-7 inch snowfall last week I thought most of my daffodils had been ruined. They were laying there flattened on the ground, so I thought I might as well bring some in to enjoy. That’s always a hard decision - they are so beautiful and welcomed outside after the long winter, should I cut some and enjoy them indoors, or leave them out for all to see? Well, the snow took care of that dilemma and I felt good about cutting those that were broken (quite a few popped back the next day). Had a great thought - “what would they look like in the blue “sleeve” I had just made from a recycled wine bottle”? You can see the result below, and I think it works well. The “sleeve” is just 6” tall, but with a short vase inside the daffodils were perfect. And, the yellow and white against the blue is very striking!
I’m also working on the same general idea using rings cut from wine bottles. The one below has the rings glued and wired wrapped together. Next I want to try fusing the rings, but then the panels will have to be just one color. Haven’t decided yet if the “ring panels” should be on all four sides or just one with a white glass on 3 sides, or on 3 sides with white or a mirror in back. Will just have to keep playing…
