Yes, it's glass!

Some new glass art

I’ve been working on a new line of fused glass using wine bottles.  My first attempts were some jewelry pieces, necklaces and earrings made from rings cut from bottles, worked on  my polishing discs, then fired in the kiln.   Pretty labor intensive, but fun to do.  The people who have seen the finished products have been pretty positive - I’ve even sold a couple of necklaces already!  I have posted a picture of a pair of earrings made from an olive colored wine bottle.  Yesterday, I smashed a bottle with a steel pipe (the bottle didn’t want to be cut into rings for some reason), piled the pieces on a kiln shelf and fused them together.  Today, I drilled some holes and wire-wrapped the rectangles to some candleholder frames that had been sitting around for a while - WOW!  I’m really pleased with the finished product.  I don’t know why this Riesling bottle kept breaking when I tried to slice rings, but maybe it just knew that it need to be something different.  A smashed Chardonnay bottle is in the kiln right now!
